Nitaqat Saudization Update 2026: Why Qiwa Contract Documentation Is Now Non-Negotiable for Saudi Employers

Nitaqat Saudization Update 2026

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD) has introduced an important update to Saudi Arabia’s Nitaqat Saudization calculation system. Effective April 15, 2026, all Saudi employee contracts must be formally documented on the Qiwa platform to be counted toward a company’s official Saudization percentage.

This change means that any Saudi national employed by your organization whose contract is not recorded on Qiwa will no longer be recognized in your Nitaqat headcount. For companies operating close to their Saudization band thresholds, even a small number of undocumented contracts could trigger a classification downgrade — directly affecting expatriate hiring capacity, government contract eligibility, and overall regulatory standing

Why This Matters Beyond the Deadline

This update reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader move toward verified, platform-based workforce data as part of its Vision 2030 agenda. As Saudization frameworks become increasingly data-driven, maintaining accurate and up-to-date Qiwa records will be essential not just for compliance but for long-term business continuity in the Kingdom.

Private sector employers are strongly advised to audit their current Qiwa records, resolve any documentation gaps, and ensure all Saudi employee contracts are accurately reflected on the platform before the deadline.
