According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA),the Kingdom’s delegation to the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York from March 22–24 was led by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani, the Deputy Minister for Water at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture.
Dr. Al-Shaibani mentioned in his speech that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is on path to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) by 2030 as a result of the water sector’s restructuring and the development of the National Water Plan.
He also said that this is a part of Saudi Arabia’s effort to ensure that everyone has equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water.
In line with Saudi Vision 2030, Dr. Al-Shaibani highlighted that the Kingdom adopted the National Water Strategy in accordance with the goals of sustainable development.
The National Water Strategy strives to safeguard the environment, preserve water resources, and provide high-quality, efficient services.
“The Kingdom aspires to provide sanitation services to all by increasing the percentage of the population covered by sanitation services to be more than 95% by 2030. Also, KSA established the National Water Efficiency and Conservation Center”, Dr. Al-Shaibani stated.
In accordance with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, new initiatives have also been announced to help address the challenges that the world is currently facing, particularly for the least developed nations.
